Artist Statement

My art practice can be best defined as an honest reflection of life, existence as it relates to me, and a celebration of humanness. I almost always paint in a rush, before the emotion fleets. I wish to hit veins of joy whether it is light or dark, and I often find myself drawn to the hints of heroism in the everyday human.

Biography

Born and raised in the city of Istanbul, Türkiye; Deniz Kaptan moved to the United States at the age of 18 to pursue a Studio Art degree at San Francisco State University.

While her studies got interrupted due to Covid and financial adversities, Kaptan continued living in both countries and kept oil painting prolifically. Commencing her artistic profile on social media in 2020, Kaptan (aka Twinsmoon online) managed to built a substantial following during lockdown, with over 80 thousand followers and more than 700 million impressions across platforms, reaching private collectors in over 10 countries.

She is currently residing in Bay Area, California where she keeps an active studio practice in Berkeley, while part-time working at San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) and a private event entertainment company.
